Things had always come easy to Lelah Moreno. Always. Some people were just born lucky and well, Lelah considered herself to be one of them. Then again, how could you consider yourself lucky when both your parents had died before you could even begin to remember them? Lelah never wondered much about her parents. The dreams she made up about them in her head were enough for her. Her grandparents - who had been her legal guardians until the age of 6 - had told her thousands of stories about them and with that and a bright imagination she managed to paint a rather life-like picture of them in her mind. What they left behind had become hers, yet only a little at a time because of her grandparent's wishes. Still, once she had turned 18 it was legally all hers.
She had moved to America at the age of six to stay with her uncle. A foreign girl thrown into a world foreign to her, she didn't speak any English her first day of American school. The only person who spoke English to her was her new aunt but still, it was a struggle to go from speaking one language constantly to learning a brand new one your first day. Still, she went through the years and soon fit in just as well with her peers as if she had been speaking English all along. She had a loving family with two older "siblings" who she would until her dying day consider to be her brother and sister. Life hadn't started off easily for Lelah but she planned on making her life more fun and exciting, she never wanted to dwell on the fact that she had less than anyone else just because her parents had died. There was no room in life for being sad when you could be happy.
Now in her freshman year of college, she knows exactly what she wants out of life and she plans to get it. No matter what it takes. She spends more time having fun and spending her parents money than she does studying and being responsible. Lelah has her entire life to grow up, so why do it now?
